The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results for the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, which took place between November 14 and December 14, 2024.

Announcing the results at a press conference in Minna, NECO Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, disclosed that 67.35% of candidates obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

According to Wushishi, a total of 86,067 candidates registered for the examination, while 84,799 sat for it. Among them, 57,114 candidates met the benchmark of securing five credits, including the two core subjects.

Further analysis showed that 83,220 candidates took English Language, with 75.62% earning a credit and above, while 93.93% of the 83,024 candidates who sat for Mathematics achieved a credit or higher.

Additionally, a total of 70,711 candidates (83.39%) obtained five credits or more in any subject combination, irrespective of English and Mathematics.

On the issue of examination malpractice, NECO reported a decline in cases, with 6,160 candidates involved in infractions—27.7% lower than the 8,518 cases recorded in 2023. As a result, seven supervisors from Lagos, Cross River, Ebonyi, Oyo, and Ogun states have been recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision, lateness, and aiding malpractice.

Furthermore, 14 examination centres—10 in Ogun State and four in Oyo State—were blacklisted for widespread malpractice across nine subjects.

Candidates can now check their results on the NECO website (www.neco.gov.ng) using their examination registration numbers.

Prof. Wushishi expressed gratitude to Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, and other stakeholders for their support in ensuring a smooth examination process.
