The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has successfully intervened to rescue Eniola Isaac, a 28-year-old Nigerian woman who was trafficked to Iraq under false promises of a better life.

Reports revealed that Isaac was subjected to abuse, mistreatment, and physical assaults by her employer in Iraq. After pleading for assistance, officials from NiDCOM, operating under the Nigerian mission in Jordan, facilitated her safe return. She is expected to arrive in Nigeria on January 3.

NiDCOM issued a statement through its official X.com account, highlighting the alarming rise in cases of Nigerian women being trafficked to Iraq through deceitful offers.

The commission also disclosed an ongoing investigation into the suspicious death of another Nigerian who had traveled to Iraq as a caregiver. The Nigerian government has demanded an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

NiDCOM warned against “unscrupulous agents wickedly luring young Nigerian women to Iraq with fake and evil promises,” which often result in slavery and prostitution.

The agency reiterated its commitment to protecting Nigerians abroad and urged citizens to remain vigilant against such deceptive schemes.
