Zenith Bank has fulfilled its pledge to reward Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, with ₦200 million following their victory at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship.

The bank held a reception at its Maitama, Abuja head office to honor the team’s historic fifth consecutive AfroBasket title.

Each player is set to receive ₦10 million credited directly to their new Zenith Bank accounts, while the remaining funds will be shared among the technical crew and officials.

The D’Tigress defeated Mali 78–64 in the final held in Abidjan and were recently honored by President Bola Tinubu with national awards and cash rewards.

Zenith Bank has been a committed sponsor of the Women National Basketball League for 18 years, with many current team members having played in the league.

The bank’s Group Managing Director, Dr. Adaora Umeoji OON, praised the team for their outstanding performance and reaffirmed Zenith Bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting and advancing women’s basketball in Nigeria.

In response, team captain and tournament MVP, Amy Okonkwo, expressed gratitude on behalf of the team for the bank’s sustained support, highlighting its crucial role in the development of women’s basketball in the country.

The event was attended by senior Zenith Bank executives, sports commission officials, and basketball federation leaders.
