In a renewed effort to strengthen security operations and combat rising insecurity, the Zamfara State Government has distributed a fleet of operational vehicles and logistics kits to various security agencies operating across the state.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Government House in Gusau, was presided over by Governor Dauda Lawal, who emphasized his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and order in Zamfara. The items distributed included patrol vehicles, motorcycles, communication gadgets, and other essential security equipment.
Governor Lawal, while handing over the assets to representatives of the Nigerian Army, Police, Civil Defence, Department of State Services (DSS), and other security outfits, said the gesture was aimed at enhancing mobility, operational capacity, and rapid response to security threats in both urban and rural areas of the state.
“This intervention is a demonstration of our resolve to support the gallant efforts of our security personnel. Our state has suffered significantly from the activities of bandits and other criminal elements. We will not relent until every community is safe,” the governor stated.
He further called on the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously and redouble their efforts in the fight against armed banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of insecurity that have plagued the state.
In their separate remarks, heads of the security agencies commended the state government for the timely support, noting that the logistics would significantly improve their operational effectiveness. They pledged to continue collaborating and coordinating efforts to secure all parts of Zamfara.
This latest intervention is part of the state government’s broader strategy to reform and equip the security architecture, which includes community engagement, intelligence gathering, and support for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Zamfara State has been one of the epicenters of violent attacks in Nigeria’s northwest region, with frequent reports of banditry, cattle rustling, and mass abductions. The government’s intensified support for security agencies is widely seen as a critical step toward ending the cycle of violence and restoring public confidence.
