The former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has once again appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with allegations of financial misappropriation during his tenure.

Bello arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday morning, accompanied by his legal team. Driving himself in a black Hilux van, the former governor honored the invitation less than two weeks after the EFCC sought an adjournment on November 14 to allow the 30-day summons window to run its course.

The visit also follows the Supreme Court’s dismissal of a lawsuit filed by some states challenging the constitutionality of the EFCC’s operations.

Speaking briefly to reporters outside the EFCC office, one of Bello’s legal representatives stated, “This is a matter of compliance. Governor Bello has always maintained that due process will be followed in addressing these allegations.”

The EFCC had initially raised the allegations against Bello earlier this year, with the most recent case marking an escalation in the commission’s investigative activities.

Details of the meeting with the EFCC are yet to be disclosed. As the case progresses, Nigerians await further developments in what could become a high-profile legal battle.

More updates to follow as the story unfolds.
