Workers at the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs in Abuja have locked out Minister Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, citing prolonged neglect and poor welfare conditions.

The staff members, who gathered at the ministry’s headquarters, blocked the entrance gates and chanted solidarity songs, demanding the Minister’s removal.

The workers were dissatisfied with the Minister’s alleged lack of engagement and failure to address their concerns despite several attempts.

According to union leader Alake Success, the Minister has not had any meeting with the workers or unions since her deployment to the Ministry in October 2024.

The staff members also complained about using personal funds for work necessities, lack of basic facilities like cleaners, and poor communication from leadership.

The situation escalated after a scheduled meeting turned sour when the Minister arrived late and ignored the staff, failing to acknowledge their presence or apologize for the delay.

The workers claim that the Minister and her over 25 aides mismanage staff welfare funds, leaving them without working tools, statutory welfare, or training.

As of press time, the Ministry’s gates remained locked, and the Minister had not responded to the allegations or addressed the aggrieved workers
