Chief Munir Balogun, father of Afrobeats superstar Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has addressed the ongoing rivalry between his son and fellow artist Davido. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Punch Newspapers, Chief Balogun revealed that he has advised Wizkid to ignore provocations from Davido’s fan base and stay focused on his career.
“I told my son that he shouldn’t look or listen to whatever the boys who are supporters of Davido are saying. The supporters are only looking for what they will say to collect money and all of that,” Chief Balogun explained.
He emphasized that fans often stir up controversies for attention and personal gain, urging Wizkid to rise above the noise. “They are just looking for what they are going to eat, and I told him not to pay much attention to them,” he added.
The rivalry between Wizkid and Davido has long fueled debates among fans, with both artists being regarded as major icons in the Nigerian music industry. Despite the fan-driven tensions, Chief Balogun’s advice is for Wizkid to maintain focus and avoid unnecessary distractions.
