Nigerian Afrobeat superstar Wizkid, born Balogun Ayodeji, has achieved another milestone, further solidifying his status as the most RIAA-certified Nigerian artiste. The Grammy-winning artist recently earned a new gold certification in the United States after his hit single ‘Soco’ sold 500,000 units.
“Soco,” which features Ceeza Milli, Spotless, and Terri, was a major success, introducing promising new talents to the music scene. The song has also achieved certifications in other countries, including silver in the UK and gold in France and Canada. With this latest U.S. certification, Wizkid now holds eight RIAA certifications.
Wizkid already boasts an impressive collection of certifications, including “Essence” (4x platinum), “Come Closer” (platinum), and “One Dance” (11x platinum). Other top Nigerian artists such as Burna Boy, Tems, Davido, and Rema have also secured RIAA certifications, but Wizkid leads with the highest number.
