Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, has announced that his sixth studio album will be dedicated to his late mother, Jane Morayo Balogun.

In a heartfelt video message shared on his social media on Saturday, the ‘Ojuelegba’ hitmaker revealed that the album, titled ‘Morayo’ in honor of his mother, will be released “very soon.”

Wizkid stated, “My album ‘Morayo’, dedicated to my mum, the love of my life, drops very soon. Don’t dull. Don’t sleep.”

The artist’s mother passed away on August 18, 2023, in London. Expressing his grief, Wizkid said, “The pain is profound.”

Wizkid, born on July 16, 1990, in the Ojuelegba suburb of Surulere, Lagos, is a significant figure in the Afrobeats movement. His music blends Afrobeats, afropop, R&B, afrobeat, reggae, dancehall, and pop. He began his music career at the age of 11 and gained prominence with his debut studio album, Superstar (2011), featuring hits like “Holla at Your Boy,” “Tease Me/Bad Guys,” and “Don’t Dull.”
