The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) crisis has taken a significant turn as governors elected on the party’s platform have intervened, nullifying suspensions and counter-suspensions issued by the National Working Committee (NWC) last week. This decision was announced by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, after a two-day meeting.

The crisis began when Ambassador Umar Damagum-led NWC suspended National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba and National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade SAN for alleged abuse of office and insubordination.

In response, Ologunagba and Ajibade suspended Damagum and National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu over alleged anti-party activities. However, Governor Mohammed declared that the suspensions have been resolved, and everything has reverted to the status quo under acting Chairman Damagum.

The governors, Board of Trustees (BoT), and NWC will discuss the October 24 National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to determine its sanctity.

Damagum has welcomed the development, urging the press not to escalate the situation, while Yayari Mohammed remains mum. The PDP crisis has been a subject of concern, but the governors’ intervention aims to resolve the issues and maintain party unity.
