A viral video circulating online features two men—Omuyiwa John and Monday Egbe—who claim to be relatives of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, accusing him of abandoning his family and hometown in Edo State since rising to international fame.
The footage, reportedly filmed at Osimhen’s ancestral home, shows the men alleging that the footballer has not visited or supported his local community, despite past family support for his now-deceased parents. They claimed to share the same grandfather with Osimhen and recounted their assistance to his late father, Patrick Osimhen, during difficult times.
“We all grew up here. We went to the same primary school. When the father came from Lagos, he said he had no money. The whole family gathered money to support him,” one of the men said. They also alleged that despite the family’s role in helping bury Osimhen’s mother, he has failed to maintain contact, even when his father passed away.
“He hasn’t come back—not even when his father died. They buried him in Lagos,” the speaker added.
The men expressed disappointment, stating that the community once celebrated Osimhen’s rise, recalling an instance when the Edo State governor brought a television to the palace so villagers could watch his match.
They concluded the video by questioning the footballer’s absence and apparent lack of gratitude, despite the support they claim his family received during their time of need.
