A group of Nigerians has petitioned the federal government, seeking justice over an alleged visa fraud involving a Dubai-based Nigerian, Mrs. Victoria Onu Uyigianshi. The victims, represented by the law firm Mbakwe & Co (Graceville Chambers), have urged the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) to intervene and ensure the suspect’s arrest and refund of their money.

According to the petition dated March 11, 2025, Uyigianshi allegedly collected N2.8 million from four individuals—Paschal Odoemena, Emmanuel Opara, Henry Ugwu, and Chinedu Onuiri—under the pretense of securing Canadian work visas. Each victim reportedly paid N700,000 to Uyigianshi’s company, Jevon Global Consult Ltd, but more than two years later, the promised visas have not been provided. The victims also claim their international passports remain withheld.

The petition, addressed to NIDCOM Chairperson Abike Dabiri-Erewa, details how the transaction began in February 2023 when a certain Ishaya Bawa introduced Odoemena to Uyigianshi. She allegedly portrayed herself as an expert in visa procurement, convincing the victims to make payments and submit their documents. Despite repeated follow-ups and being summoned for supposed visa interviews in Abuja, the victims say they have received nothing but excuses.

The law firm accused Uyigianshi and her associates of “criminal breach of trust, conspiracy, cheating, and fraud.” They called on NIDCOM to investigate the matter and prevent similar scams targeting Nigerians.

In response to the allegations, Uyigianshi’s lawyer, Endurance O. Adeoaun of Prudent Legal Consults, denied any wrongdoing, stating that visa delays were due to factors beyond their control. While insisting the accusations were baseless, he expressed willingness to discuss a possible refund.

The victims, however, remain adamant in their call for government intervention to recover their funds and prosecute those responsible.
