The US State Department has approved a potential sale of ammunition, precision bombs, and precision rockets to Nigeria, valued at an estimated $346 million.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced the proposed sale, which includes 1,002 MK-82 general-purpose 500 lb bombs, 1,002 MXU-650 Air Foil Groups for 500 lb Paveway II GBU-12 bombs, and 5,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II (APKWS II) all-up-rounds.

The package also includes non-major defense equipment items such as bomb components, impulse cartridges, high-explosive and practice rockets, integration support, and test equipment.

The DSCA named Lockheed Martin, RTX Missiles and Defence, and BAE Systems as the contractors for the sale.

These companies are major players in the global defense industry, producing advanced military equipment and technology.

According to the DSCA, the proposed sale will support US foreign policy goals and national security objectives by improving the security of Nigeria, a strategic partner in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The sale aims to enhance Nigeria’s military capabilities and promote regional stability.

The deal is expected to strengthen US-Nigeria relations and contribute to the country’s defense modernization efforts.
