The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has accepted an invitation from Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to visit Nigeria later this year, marking a significant step towards strengthening the two countries’ bilateral relations and economic cooperation.
The invitation was extended by President Tinubu during bilateral talks on Wednesday night at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025. At the meeting, President Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s progress in economic reforms, emphasizing that these efforts are stabilizing and growing the nation’s economy. He noted the renewed confidence in the country, with foreign investors and international oil companies committing to billion-dollar investments. “Nigeria is open and ready for more partnerships with the UAE,” he stated.
In turn, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his gratitude for President Tinubu’s visit and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to deepening economic ties with Nigeria, particularly in the sectors of investment, energy, and sustainability.
Accompanying President Tinubu were several key Nigerian officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. The UAE delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with other senior officials, including the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al Shamsi.
