
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has deported 400 Nigerians, comprising 90 females and 310 males, according to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
The deportees were received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by representatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and other stakeholders.
In a related development, 103 Nigerians were recently deported from Turkey and received by NEMA officials and other stakeholders. Additionally, 264 Nigerian passengers were informed of their visa cancellations upon arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport – Hajj Terminal, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 13, 2023.
The Nigerian government has urged calm in response to these deportations.
