US security sources have confirmed that Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old gunman who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump, had bomb-making materials in both his car and residence.

Speaking to Fox News, sources revealed that Crooks’ car, which was parked near the Pennsylvania rally where the attempt took place, contained explosives, including an improvised explosive device (IED). “There were explosives, including an IED, found inside a car driven by Thomas Matthew Crooks parked near the scene of the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania,” the sources confirmed. They did not specify the quantity or type of explosives but stressed that multiple devices were discovered.

Additionally, law enforcement officials found more bomb-making materials at Crooks’ residence, highlighting the extensive preparation involved in the failed assassination attempt.

Crooks, who used an AR-style weapon during the attack, managed to hit Trump by his ears before being fatally shot by the Secret Service. The attempt occurred during Trump’s campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.
