Former US President Donald Trump has confirmed he will announce his running mate at the Republican National Convention next month.
In interviews aired Thursday, Trump told TV psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw, “I can’t yet, but we have some very good people. I’m going to do it in the convention.” The convention is scheduled for July 15-18 in Milwaukee.
In a parallel interview on Fox News, Trump reiterated, “I think I’ll announce who that person’s gonna be during the convention. I think that’s pretty normal, during the convention. It’ll be an interesting period of time.”
CNN reported that vetting materials have been sent to several candidates under consideration. However, people familiar with the process note that Trump’s decision is still in flux, and only he will make the final choice. Last month, Trump hinted to TMJ4 News that there was a “pretty good chance” of making the announcement at the Milwaukee convention.
