U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has called on his supporters to consider “helping” the Democratic Party manage its post-election campaign debt.

On November 10, 2024, Trump posted on X, urging Republicans to assist the Democrats financially, noting the party’s struggles with debt despite record-breaking fundraising during the 2024 election.

Expressing his surprise, Trump remarked, “I am very surprised that the Democrats…didn’t have lots of $’s left over. Now they are being squeezed by vendors and others.” He emphasized that this gesture could foster unity after a divisive election, adding, “Whatever we can do to help them during this difficult period…for the sake of desperately needed UNITY, do.” Trump cited his campaign’s significant funds remaining due to minimal spending on traditional ads, crediting “Earned Media” for much of his exposure.

Kamala Harris’s campaign reportedly ended with a $20 million deficit, despite raising over $1 billion, as her fundraising totalled approximately $2.3 billion through her campaign and Super PACs, with nearly $1.9 billion spent. However, Harris faced challenges in appealing to middle-class voters, whose concerns included rising costs in food, housing, and healthcare, according to campaign fundraiser Ajay Jain Bhutoria.
