As Muslims across Nigeria and the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, President Bola Tinubu has called on citizens to embrace resilience, tolerance, compassion, and dedication to national progress. In his Eid message, the President expressed gratitude for the faith and perseverance of Nigerians, assuring the nation that the most challenging days are now behind.
President Tinubu described Eid-el-Kabir as a period for gratitude and reflection, noting that it marks the culmination of the sacred first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. He emphasized the festival’s deeper significance, urging Nigerians to embody the virtues of sacrifice, devotion, and selflessness exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim and taught by Prophet Muhammad.
He said, “Eid-el-Kabir also reminds us of our responsibilities beyond faith: to show resilience, tolerance, compassion, and dedication to the progress of our beloved country. I reaffirm my commitment to these values and express my deep appreciation for the faith, patience, and perseverance Nigerians show as we implement bold reforms. Together, we have weathered challenging times and are approaching a brighter horizon.”
President Tinubu acknowledged the difficulties faced by the nation, but assured that the country is now entering a new era of hope and prosperity. He praised the resilience of both public and private sector leaders and the steadfast support of Nigerians, stating that these efforts are beginning to yield positive results.
“I assure you that the toughest days are behind us. We are entering a new era of renewed hope and prosperity that we promised two years ago,” he said.
The President urged Nigerians not to lose hope, highlighting that key economic indicators are improving and that the benefits of ongoing reforms will soon be felt by all. He stressed that the ultimate goal is not just to improve statistics, but to transform lives and set Nigeria on a path to sustainable development.
Tinubu also referenced recent tragedies, including the flooding in Mokwa, Niger State, which caused loss of lives and property. He called for prayers for the victims and their families, and for unity in bringing relief to those affected.
He further encouraged prayers for frontline officers, national leaders, and for peace in Nigeria and the world. He called on those with means to remember the needy, sharing kindness and support as true brothers and sisters.
“May the joy and blessings of Eid-ul-Adha multiply in our lives and the life of our great nation. May Almighty Allah accept our worship and devotion as acts of Ibadah, and may His blessings be with us always,” the President concluded.
