Tottenham Hotspur have begun formal discussions with Brentford to secure manager Thomas Frank as their next head coach. Negotiations are currently focused on compensation, as Frank is under contract with Brentford for another two years and has a release clause believed to be around £10 million.
Frank is reportedly open to the move and keen to hold talks with Spurs. The North London club considers him their top and only choice for the managerial role following the recent departure of Ange Postecoglou. The Spurs board has made Frank their clear priority, and no alternative candidates are being pursued.
Brentford, while reluctant to lose their manager, are not expected to block a potential move if Frank wishes to take the next step in his career. However, they are insisting that any offers must be serious and reflect the value of a coach who has transformed the club’s fortunes.
Frank has longstanding ties with Tottenham’s technical director Johan Lange, with the two having worked together in Denmark. Lange, known for his data-driven approach to recruitment, is believed to be impressed by Frank’s performance metrics and managerial record.
Since taking charge of Brentford in October 2018, Frank has guided the club from the Championship to the Premier League. Under his leadership, Brentford earned promotion in 2021 and have since finished 13th, 9th, 16th, and 10th in England’s top flight. Last season, a late resurgence after key players returned from injury saw the club narrowly miss out on European qualification.
With Postecoglou’s exit confirmed, Spurs are now accelerating efforts to bring in Frank as their next head coach.
