Popular media personality Toke Makinwa has dismissed rumors that she secretly married entertainment mogul Farouk Umar during her 40th birthday Thanksgiving party in Lagos.
Speculation spread after a video of the two sharing affectionate moments, while dressed in white traditional attire, went viral on social media.
Addressing the rumors at the event, Makinwa clarified that the pair are simply close friends. “On Obasanjo’s internet, they said I got married to this guy. This guy is my best friend… Farouk held me down when there was nobody,” she explained.
Makinwa also reflected on the challenges of her previous marriage to Maje Ayida, which ended in 2017 after infidelity allegations. She expressed gratitude to God for helping her through that difficult time. “When I thought I was going to die… somehow you held me together,” she said.
Makinwa went on to appreciate her friends for their unwavering support during her hardships, acknowledging that she had not always been the best friend in return but was thankful nonetheless.
