Tobi Amusan led Nigeria to victory in the women’s 4x100m relay, winning the gold medal at the 2024 African Senior Athletics Championship in Douala on Monday night.

The Nigerian quartet, comprising Amusan, Justina Eyakpobeyan, Tima Godbless, and Olayinka Olajide, finished the race with an impressive time of 42.76 seconds. Their West African rivals, Liberia and Ghana, secured the second and third places, respectively.

Nigeria’s dominance in this event at the African Athletics Championship has been unbroken since 2018, with Amusan being a consistent member of all the winning teams.

In the men’s 4x100m relay, Nigeria secured the silver medal, finishing behind Ghana. The Nigerian team, featuring Kanyinsola Ajayi, Usheoritse Itsekiri, Alaba Akintola, and Godson Brume, clocked a time of 38.84 seconds. Ghana won the gold with a time of 38.63 seconds, while Ivory Coast took the bronze medal with a time of 39.77 seconds.
