President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to deliver a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 7 a.m. This was announced by the president’s special adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement released on Monday.
The statement, titled ‘October 1st 2024 Independence Day: President Tinubu addresses the nation’, noted that the address is part of the activities marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.
“Television and radio stations, as well as other electronic media outlets, are encouraged to connect to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria for the broadcast,” Onanuga urged.
In preparation for the celebrations, the government had earlier declared Tuesday a public holiday. This announcement was made by Magdalene Ajani, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Interior, on behalf of the minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Tunji-Ojo, in his message, extended congratulations to Nigerians both at home and abroad. He commended the resilience and dedication of citizens, emphasizing that their contributions are vital to the nation’s progress. “Nigerians’ sacrifices remain key to the development of the country,” he stated, encouraging citizens to reflect on the struggles of the nation’s past heroes and to remain committed to building a united future.
As the country looks forward to the president’s address, many are hopeful that it will touch on critical issues affecting Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
