President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria has officially signed the bill establishing the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC) into law.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, made the announcement during the Senate plenary session on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
According to Akpabio, the commission aims to drive development at the grassroots level across Nigeria’s North-Central region, enhancing infrastructure, economic growth, and stability.
“Let me also inform my colleagues that Mr. President has assented to the North-Central Development Commission Establishment Bill to bring development to the grassroots,” he stated.
He further congratulated the people of the North-Central region and expressed hopes that the initiative would foster peace and progress in the area.
This development follows similar commissions established for other regions, such as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and North-East Development Commission (NEDC), aimed at addressing regional developmental challenges.
