
President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has announced the naming of the M18 road infrastructure in Guzape District, Abuja, after the esteemed Nigerian novelist and poet, Professor Chinua Achebe, during its inauguration on Saturday, June 8.
In his address at the ceremony, President Tinubu honored Achebe’s legacy, stating, “This road stands as a tribute to Chinua Achebe, whose literary works have profoundly impacted not only Nigeria but the world at large. His contributions to literature and his portrayal of African culture and history will forever be remembered.”
The announcement was also shared by Olusegun Dada, the Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Social Media, who posted on Twitter, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissions the M18 road infrastructure in Guzape District of Abuja, naming the road after the late Professor Chinua Achebe, a renowned Nigerian novelist and poet.”
