
President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria is set to embark on a three-day official visit to Equatorial Guinea, beginning on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
This visit comes at the invitation of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu will depart from Abuja to Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, for this significant diplomatic mission.
Ngelale stated, “President Tinubu’s visit to Equatorial Guinea is aimed at deepening the existing bilateral relations between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea. The President will engage in discussions with President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo at the Presidential Villa upon his arrival.”
During the visit, the two leaders are expected to sign several key agreements, particularly in the areas of oil and gas as well as security. These agreements are anticipated to foster closer cooperation between the two nations in these critical sectors.
“Accompanying the President on this trip will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and other members of the cabinet,” Ngelale added.
“Their involvement underscores the importance of this visit, as they will participate in the signing of agreements and explore further opportunities to enhance Nigeria’s bilateral relations with Equatorial Guinea,” He concluded
