President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has awarded the prestigious Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Chief Justice of the Federation, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, in a ceremony commemorating Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.
During his address on October 1, 2024, President Tinubu also conferred the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
In addition, Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, received the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON).
The national awards ceremony highlighted the President’s recognition of key figures in the government as part of the country’s ongoing celebration of its independence.
