
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria has announced the appointment of new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, a seasoned Foreign Service officer, will now lead the NIA, while Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, a veteran intelligence operative, has been appointed as the new head of the DSS.
Ambassador Mohammed, a 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, brings a wealth of experience from his roles in various Nigerian missions, including North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and Libya. Mr. Ajayi, who has served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi, has risen through the ranks to become the Assistant Director-General of the DSS.
In a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the President expressed his confidence that the new security chiefs would reposition their agencies for improved outcomes. He urged them to enhance collaboration with other security agencies and align their efforts with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to address the country’s security challenges effectively.
President Tinubu also extended his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their dedicated service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
