
President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has announced the appointment of retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hashimu Argungu, as the new Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
This decision follows the replacement of former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, who held the position since January 2023.
In a statement released by the media aide to President Tinubu, Ajuri Ngelale, on Monday, it was revealed that Chief Onyemuche Nnamani has been appointed as the Secretary of the Commission, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) as a Member. These appointments are pending confirmation by the Senate, with additional members of the Police Service Commission to be appointed in the future.
Furthermore, Mr. Mohammed Sheidu has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) with immediate effect. President Tinubu emphasized the importance of upholding integrity, diligence, and patriotic commitment in fulfilling these crucial roles for the betterment of the Nigeria Police and the nation as a whole.
