
TikTok has removed more than 2.1 million videos in Nigeria during the second quarter of 2024 for violating its community guidelines. This move is part of the platform’s ongoing efforts to enhance content moderation and ensure user safety.
According to the Community Guidelines Enforcement Report released on Tuesday, the videos removed account for less than 1% of the total uploads in Nigeria during the period. “Key findings show that 99.1% of these videos were proactively removed before users reported them, with 90.7% taken down within 24 hours,” the report stated, highlighting TikTok’s commitment to staying ahead of harmful content.
Globally, the video-sharing platform removed over 178 million videos in June 2024, with 144 million of those removals done through automated systems. TikTok assured users of its continued investment in technologies to improve content moderation, promising to maintain transparency and platform safety.
With a proactive detection rate of 98.2% worldwide, TikTok emphasized that it is more efficient than ever in addressing harmful content before it reaches users.
