TikTok has removed 2.4 million videos posted by Nigerian users in the fourth quarter of 2024 for violating its content policies. This was revealed in the platform’s latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, which listed Nigeria among the top 50 countries with the highest number of content violations during the period.
According to the report, a total of 153 million videos were removed globally, with the United States leading at 8.5 million deletions. The violations included breaches related to integrity and authenticity, privacy and security, mental and behavioral health, and platform safety.
TikTok also disclosed that it removed 211.5 million accounts suspected of being fake or belonging to users under the age of 13. Fake accounts constituted the largest share, with 185.3 million deletions, while 20.5 million accounts were suspected to belong to minors. An additional 5.6 million accounts were removed for undisclosed reasons.
The company emphasized its commitment to safeguarding the platform against external threats, including fake accounts and engagement manipulation. TikTok stated that fluctuations in the number of deleted accounts and fake engagements were due to evolving detection methods and persistent security threats.
The report highlights TikTok’s ongoing efforts to enforce its community guidelines and maintain platform integrity amid increasing concerns over digital content regulation worldwide.
