Tottenham Hotspur have announced Thomas Frank as their new head coach. The Danish tactician has signed a contract running until 2028 and steps into the role after a successful seven-year spell with Brentford. He replaces Ange Postecoglou, who was let go despite leading the club to a Europa League triumph that ended their 17-year wait for silverware.
The club described Frank as one of the most forward-thinking and innovative managers in football, emphasizing his strong background in player development and team building.
Joining him from Brentford are assistant coach Justin Cochrane, performance coach and assistant Chris Haslam, and analyst Joe Newton. Andreas Georgson, formerly of Manchester United, will also become part of Frank’s coaching staff as an assistant.
Frank inherits a team that struggled in the Premier League last season, finishing 17th after suffering 22 losses and collecting only 38 points—their worst-ever performance in the competition.
Despite their league form, Tottenham secured a spot in the UEFA Champions League by winning the Europa League, giving Frank his first opportunity to manage in European competition.
The 51-year-old’s debut in the dugout will be a high-profile clash against Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup on August 13 in Udine, Italy—offering him a chance to win his first major trophy immediately.
His appointment follows the recent departure of Postecoglou, a decision the club’s leadership described as particularly difficult given the team’s European success.
