Former US President Barack Obama has unveiled his highly anticipated 2024 summer playlist, which features a diverse mix of 44 songs. This year, Nigerian music is once again represented, with artists Tems and Rema making the list.

Obama shared the playlist on X, expressing his love for an eclectic mix of music: “With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to!”

The inclusion of Tems and Rema continues the trend of Nigerian artistes being featured on Obama’s playlists, following previous nods to stars like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr.

Among the other notable tracks on the playlist are Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”, Charli XCX’s “365”, and Bob Marley’s classic “Them Belly Full.”

Obama confirmed last year that he personally curates his playlists, refuting claims that someone else might be behind his music selections. He emphasized that the choices are his own, highlighting his deep appreciation for various music genres.

This recognition further solidifies Tems and Rema’s positions as global music icons, celebrated by fans and influential figures alike.
