Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has become a club partner in Brazilian football club San Diego FC.

Tems announced the news via her Instagram page on Wednesday, expressing excitement about her new role. “I am so stoked to announce I have officially joined the @sandiegofc ownership group as a Club Partner,” she wrote.

The award-winning artist is partnering with Pave Investments, an African private investment firm known for leading a group of strategic investors in NBA Africa in 2021.

As part of her involvement, Tems will play a key role in the club’s Right to Dream initiative, a program dedicated to nurturing young talents both on and off the pitch.

“This is more than a club—it’s a movement,” she added. “I get to be a part of a family that encompasses everything I believe in, ensuring young talents have the opportunity to shine.”

Chairman of Pave Investments, Tunde Folawiyo, and the firm’s founding director, Kwamena Afful, are also joining the ownership group.

San Diego FC’s CEO, Tom Penn, welcomed Tems, emphasizing her global influence and alignment with the club’s values.

“Tems is an extraordinary artist and cultural force worldwide. We are honored to have her join our club and bring her visionary perspective,” Penn stated. “Her passion for empowering the next generation aligns perfectly with our mission.”

Tems’ entry into sports ownership marks a significant crossover between the worlds of music and football. Her partnership signals a commitment to youth empowerment, bridging culture and sports while creating more opportunities for African talent on the global stage.
