Nigerian music sensation Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has expressed gratitude to veteran artist Seyi Sodimu for his support in the success of her Grammy-winning song, Love Me Jeje.
Tems clinched her second Grammy at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, winning the Best African Music Performance category with her remake of Sodimu’s 1997 classic, Love Me Jeje.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, the singer credited Sodimu for facilitating the clearance of the song’s sample and embracing its revival.
“I just want to thank the wonderful #seyimusic for his role in the support and clearing of his OG song Love Me Jeje,” Tems wrote. “It’s brought the original song back to life for me, and I’m glad that it’s getting its flowers today. A timeless classic. I appreciate you so much. Thank you for your love and support.”
Originally released in 1997, Love Me Jeje remains one of Nigeria’s most beloved love songs. Its resurgence through Tems’ version has reignited interest in the track, introducing it to a new generation of music lovers.
