The Super Eagles of Nigeria have maintained their 39th position in the latest FIFA rankings, as announced by the football governing body. Despite a drop from 38th place a few months ago due to a series of poor performances, the Nigerian national team has held steady in the rankings.
The Super Eagles, under former coaches Jose Peseiro and Findi George, failed to secure wins in their last four qualifying matches, contributing to their earlier slip. However, the latest FIFA rankings, released today, see Nigeria ahead of key African rivals, including Ghana, South Africa, and Cameroon.
Cameroon dropped two spots to 53rd, while South Africa and Ghana fell to 59th and 70th, respectively. Meanwhile, Nigeria remains just ahead of Algeria, who moved up five places to 41st.
According to FIFA, “All teams in the top 10 hold their positions,” while countries like Bolivia, Brunei Darussalam, and Samoa made significant gains.
The Super Eagles will look to improve their ranking further with upcoming international fixtures, hoping that recent performances will positively impact the next FIFA list.
