Renowned Ifa priest, Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, has urged Nigerians to stop blaming the Yoruba deity Esu for their misdeeds, calling for a reevaluation of the misconceptions surrounding the deity.

Speaking during a peaceful rally tagged “Esu Is Not Satan Walk” in Osogbo, Osun State, Elebuibon described Esu as a deity of justice and discipline. He emphasized that Esu is wrongly associated with evil, asserting that individuals should take responsibility for their actions rather than attributing wrongdoing to the deity.

The rally, organized to commemorate Esu Deity Day, began at Osogbo City Stadium and ended at a temple in Oja Oba. Participants, including traditionalists and members of the Concerned Isese Youth, marched through the streets, celebrating Esu and advocating for its virtues.

“There is a lot of misinformation about Esu. It is high time Nigerians stopped using Esu as a scapegoat for their actions,” Elebuibon stated.

He also called for peaceful coexistence among followers of different faiths, urging Nigerians to avoid inflammatory remarks and actions that could lead to violence. The event drew a large turnout of cultural enthusiasts promoting justice, accountability, and a deeper understanding of Esu in Yoruba spirituality.
