Controversial Nigerian rapper and internet personality, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been granted bail nearly a month after his arrest by the Nigeria Police Force in Imo State.

Reports suggest that the arrest followed a petition filed by Grammy award-winning artist Burna Boy, who alleged that Speed Darlington had ties to embattled U.S. rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The arrest was first revealed by Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, who claimed it was carried out on Burna Boy’s directive. This led to widespread outrage across social media, with many Nigerians, including influencers, demanding the rapper’s immediate release.

Renowned legal practitioner Stan Alieke announced the update on Instagram, confirming that Speed Darlington, often referred to by his nickname “Akpi,” had been granted bail.

“Akpi has been granted bail by the court,” Alieke shared in his Instagram story.
