Veteran Nollywood actor, Prince Jide Kosoko, has addressed the ongoing debate about sex-for-roles in the Nigerian film industry, stating that some women deliberately enter Nollywood with the intention of trading sex for career advancement.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, Kosoko dismissed the notion that filmmakers and producers always impose such demands on actresses. While acknowledging that such incidents may occur, he argued that some aspiring actresses willingly use sexual relationships as a strategy to rise to fame.
“If I said I need you to come and warm my bed so that I can give you this role, and you said no, they cannot force you to do it,” Kosoko said. “I know some ladies who come into the industry with the determination that by the time ‘I sleep with this and sleep with that, I will get my name.’”
The veteran actor emphasized that no one can be coerced into compromising their values, urging aspiring actors to reject unethical propositions and focus on their talent.
