Singer Lil Nas X, born Montero Hill, has been released from jail following a weekend in custody.
He was arrested on Thursday, August 21, in Los Angeles and initially charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
The rapper was also hospitalized for a possible overdose, though the Los Angeles Police Department has not confirmed this.
On August 25, Lil Nas X appeared before a judge where he pleaded not guilty to four felony charges: three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.
He remained in custody until posting a $75,000 bail later that Monday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 15. If convicted on all charges, he could face up to five years in state prison.
The judge has mandated that Lil Nas X attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week. Police believe the rapper was under the influence of drugs during his arrest.
