Spanish club Sevilla and Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho have mutually agreed to terminate the player’s contract, which was originally set to run until June 30, 2026.

Iheanacho joined Sevilla on a free transfer from Leicester City in the summer of 2024 but struggled to secure a regular place in the team.

During the first half of the 2024/25 season, Iheanacho made 15 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals.

In January 2025, he was loaned to English Championship side Middlesbrough, where he played 15 matches, scoring once and providing two assists.

Despite efforts, Iheanacho failed to regain a spot in Sevilla’s squad, missing the matchday lineup for their opening three league games of the 2025/26 season.

Sevilla confirmed the departure in a statement marking the end of his stint in Spain.

Iheanacho is now strongly linked with a move to Scottish champions Celtic, where he could reunite with former Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers.

This next move will be crucial as Iheanacho aims to revive his career ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and Africa Cup of Nations campaigns.
