The Nigerian Senate session turned chaotic on Thursday, February 20, 2025, after Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan protested the relocation of her seat without prior notice.

The drama began when Senate Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Ali Monguno, raised a point of order during plenary, questioning Akpoti-Uduaghan’s “improper sitting position.” Before Monguno could finish, Natasha interrupted, demanding an explanation for the unexpected seat change.

Tension Escalates

The situation quickly escalated into a heated exchange, with the Sergeant-at-Arms stepping in to restore order. Despite Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s efforts to calm the tensions, Natasha stood her ground, accusing the leadership of silencing her voice.

Frustrated by her defiance, Akpabio ordered the Sergeant-at-Arms to remove her from the chamber. However, the Kogi Central Senator refused to leave, leading to further disruptions.

Senate Proceedings Halted

As the shouting match continued, public address systems were temporarily shut down before normal proceedings resumed.

This latest confrontation highlights the growing tensions within the Senate, especially regarding leadership decisions and internal party struggles.
