American rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has reportedly been placed on suicide watch as he faces trial on serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. According to PEOPLE, the measure is precautionary as Combs prepares for a highly anticipated court battle.
On Wednesday, Diddy made an appearance in court, seeking a $50 million bail package to avoid continued detention at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre. However, the judge rejected the request, raising concerns about the gravity of the charges against him.
His legal team argued that Diddy posed no danger and should be granted bail. “He is not a flight risk nor a threat,” his representatives emphasized. But the judge remained unconvinced, particularly in light of new evidence presented by the prosecution.
Prosecutors introduced alleged text messages sent by Diddy to his ex, Cassie Ventura, dating back to 2016. These messages appeared to show Diddy’s distress and possible involvement in criminal activity. One message reportedly read, “Call me, the cops are here. I got six kids. You, please call. I’m surrounded. You gonna abandon me all alone.”
Despite the mounting pressure, Diddy has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to all charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting individuals for prostitution. His legal team continues to assert that he has no involvement in the alleged crimes.
As the trial continues, Diddy remains on suicide watch as part of what authorities describe as a “preventative measure.”
