The WhatsApp number of Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, has been compromised by suspected scammers.
The Ministry of Education released a statement today, September 27, 2024, warning the public that unauthorized individuals are currently using the minister’s line.
According to the announcement from the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the ministry urges the public to disregard any requests received from this number until further notice. The situation has been reported to the appropriate authorities for investigation.
Professor Mamman confirmed the hacking on X, advising the public to avoid using the affected number and to ignore any assistance requests. He stated, “My phone line has been compromised. Please refrain from calling the number and ignore any messages requesting assistance until the issue is resolved. Thank you for your understanding.”
The ministry encourages vigilance among citizens and requests that any suspicious activity be reported immediately. Further updates will be shared as the situation develops.
