The 2024 Globe Soccer Awards celebrated football’s finest on Friday, honoring remarkable achievements in the sport during a grand ceremony held in Dubai. The event recognized the contributions of players, clubs, and officials across several categories.
Cristiano Ronaldo took home the Best Middle East Player award, sharing insights about his career and hinting at a potential new role in football. When asked about transitioning to coaching, the Portuguese superstar said, “Becoming a head coach or manager? No… but maybe I could become a club owner.”
Ronaldo also reflected on his time with Manchester United, expressing his enduring love for the club. “I love Manchester United. I want the best for them. The problem is not the coach; it’s something different,” he remarked.
In his speech, Ronaldo sparked discussions by asserting that the Saudi Pro League is stronger than France’s Ligue 1. “Saudi League is better than Ligue 1, of course. France only has PSG. The rest are finished,” he said, adding that playing in extreme weather adds to the league’s challenge.
The awards also celebrated women’s football, with Aitana Bonmatí winning Best Women’s Player and FC Barcelona Femení clinching Best Women’s Club.
Other winners included:
