The Rivers State House of Assembly has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, over allegations of age falsification.
The issue was raised during Thursday’s plenary session after House Leader, Hon. Major Jack, presented documents suggesting inconsistencies in the Chief Judge’s age records.
Following the presentation, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Dumle Maol, alleged that the documents indicate Justice Amadi falsified his age while in service.
“These documents before me suggest that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, falsified his age in service. Mr. Speaker, that is a very serious allegation, and I do hope that this House takes legislative notice,” Maol stated.
After deliberation, the Assembly resolved to write a formal letter to the DSS, requesting an investigation into the allegations.
Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, emphasized the need for a thorough probe to verify the claims.
“The documents are only suggesting a case of age falsification by the Honourable Chief Judge. What it means is that there has to be an investigation into the matter,” Amaewhule said.
Following a voice vote, the House unanimously agreed to forward the request to the DSS and await the agency’s findings.
