The Rivers State Government has suspended all political office holders appointed by the embattled Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Those affected include the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief of Staff, Commissioners, Special Advisers, and members of various boards, agencies, and commissions.
The decision, announced on Wednesday, follows the directive of Vice-Admiral Ibok Ibas (retd), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, who was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
A statement signed by the Chief of Staff to the Administrator instructed all suspended officials to hand over to Permanent Secretaries in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). In cases where no Permanent Secretary is available, the most senior Director or Head of Administration will assume leadership.
The suspension marks a significant escalation in the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, raising questions about the future of Fubara’s administration.
