The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate the bribery allegations made by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

The resolution came after Patrick Umoh, a lawmaker representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency, Akwa Ibom State, moved a motion of urgent public importance on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

Umoh expressed concern over the publication by VeryDarkMan, which accused the EFCC of dropping money laundering charges against popular influencer Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, after allegedly receiving a ₦15 million bribe.

The publication further claimed that Bobrisky did not serve his court-ordered sentence at the Nigerian Correctional Service but was lodged outside its confines.

The House, concerned about the potential damage to Nigeria’s law enforcement reputation, has referred the matter to the Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions for further investigation. They are expected to report their findings within three legislative weeks.
