Nigerian music sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made history as the first African artiste to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
The American monthly publication, known for its focus on music, politics, and pop culture, announced Rema as the cover star for its April 2025 edition, recognizing his influence in taking Afrobeats to a global audience.
Mavin Records celebrated the milestone with an Instagram post: “Rave Lordé Rema, the Afrobeats visionary, makes history as @Rollingstone USA’s first African cover star!”
Following the announcement, the Heis crooner delivered an electrifying performance at the Rolling Stone concert, thrilling fans with hit songs like Dumebi, Woman, and Calm Down.
Rema’s latest achievement further cements his status as a trailblazer for African music. His feature on Rolling Stone comes shortly after appearing on the cover of Dazed Magazine, another globally recognized publication.
Since rising to fame in 2019 after signing with Mavin Records, Rema has consistently broken barriers. His chart-topping hit Calm Down featuring Selena Gomez became the most streamed Afrobeats song in history, surpassing a billion streams on Spotify and earning multiple platinum certifications.
In addition, Calm Down made history as the first African-led track to top the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) official music charts, earning Rema a Guinness World Record.
Beyond his streaming success, Rema became the first African artiste to perform at the prestigious Ballon d’Or ceremony in 2023, delivering a standout performance in Paris, France.
