Real Madrid has made history by becoming the first football club to exceed €1 billion in revenue. The club’s Board of Directors announced this milestone following their annual financial review on July 23.

The club reported an operating income of €1.073 billion for the 2023/24 financial year, marking a 27% increase from the previous year. This achievement was driven by a successful season on the pitch and strategic commercial expansion.

On the field, Real Madrid’s football team secured the Champions League, LaLiga, and the Spanish Super Cup, while the basketball team won the League, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup, and reached the EuroLeague final. These triumphs significantly boosted the club’s revenue, despite the higher costs associated with squad bonuses.

Commercially, the club expanded its merchandising and sponsorships, including a new sleeve sponsorship deal with HP. Stadium revenues also surged due to new VIP experiences and major events hosted at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, even though it is still under renovation. The club’s operating profit before depreciation (EBITDA) reached €156 million, a 71% increase from the previous year.

Real Madrid maintained a robust financial position with a cash balance of €82 million and undrawn credit facilities of €395 million. The club’s net debt has been drastically reduced from €241 million in 2020 to just €8 million, demonstrating effective financial management.

The Santiago Bernabéu Stadium renovation saw a €270 million investment this year, bringing total project expenditures to €1.163 billion. The project is set to complete in the 2024/25 season, promising significant future revenue increases from newly developed business areas.

Looking ahead, Real Madrid aims to sustain its commercial growth and continue its legacy of on-field success, highlighted by the high-profile signing of Kylian Mbappé for the upcoming season. The club’s strategy focuses on sustainable growth, balancing revenue diversification with cost management to maintain profitability and financial stability.
